The quest for skilled labor for sustainable growth in Vietnam

The objectives of this research are to assess the need for skilled labor in the development process in Vietnam and how to solve the gap between demand and supply of skilled labor for sustainable economic growth in this country. On the basis of experience learned from several countries and in-deep interviews with persons from the Ministry of Education and Training; the Education and Training Department; the vocational school and companies, located in Hanoi, Haiphong-Vietnam, the research has summarizes the features of Human resource development in Vietnam and Vocational Training system, which is so far unable to satisfy the demand of skilled labor, both in quality and quantity. The most important finding of this research is that although is does not offer the perfect pannacea for all problems of vocational training sector, it, however, suggests necessary solution to improve the performance of vocational training in Vietnam, at least, in the current stage of its development process.
